St Peter's Parish Hall Rebuild
Our parish urgently needs to raise £40K in funds before November 1st 2023.
The pre-war timber structure of the current Parish Hall at St Peter’s is sadly beyond repair. We have been awarded significant grants from both Chichester District Council and the Woodger Trust to rebuild it, but we have a shortfall of £40K that we have to raise before we can commit to the project. The Council grant expires in July 2025, which is an essential part of funding this project. There is a lot to do if we are to start work by then, and it is why the fundraising is so urgent. The hall in St Peter’s has the largest grounds of all our churches, it has a large car park and is a vital part of our parish community. A large number of church, parish and community events take place here and the clergy want this to continue and for us to extend the invitation wider to our deanery. The proposed plans allow our community to continue using the existing hall, whilst the new part of the hall is being built. The project has been costed to include the new hall extension and the works to that part of the existing hall which will be retained, but also an extension to the car park, new pathways and landscaping. The total project has been costed at £280,000. We have been offered £90,000 from the District Council, £80,000 from the Woodger Trust, and £80,000 from existing Parish Funds, which leaves a shortfall. Our clergy and the Parish Pastoral Council need us to raise £40,000 (which includes a buffer of £10,000) which they want us to do before we can start the programme again. All funds raised at St Peter’s Summer Fete this year will go towards the St Peter’s Parish Hall fund (£2,100), and funds from the St Richard's raffle to be held on 22nd September 2023. All contributions should be clearly marked 'St Peter’s Parish Hall' (and Gift Aided if at all possible). |
