St Wilfrid's Church Roof Fund
|
As many of you will be aware, there has been a substantial leak on the lower roof of St Wilfrid’s, Selsey, for two years or more, which has been getting progressively worse. Quotes for remedial action were sought over a year ago and submitted for approval by Diocesan Finance (as they were above the value that can be approved locally). That process has taken a year and involved seeking updated quotes. I am pleased to report that we have finally received some good news …… and a challenge!
The good news is that the Diocese have finally given approval to proceed with repairs to the lower roof, at a cost of approx. £40K (which includes a small allowance for unforeseen work). We are currently talking to the successful contractor (Mariners), to agree a date for the work to commence, aiming for July / August. Our challenge is to finance these works. The £40k needs to be raised by us: Parishioners of the four churches of the Saints of Sussex Parish. Whilst Selsey parishioners are committed to putting their hearts and souls into roof-work fundraising, parishioners from Bosham, Witterings & Chichester are being asked for their financial support too. Saints of Sussex are, today, launching a fundraising project to complete St Wilfrid’s roof repairs, with a target of £40k to achieve. Please, all of you, give whatever you can.
