Fr David Murphy

Picture
Fr David Murphy, born in 1970 is originally from Galway in Ireland.  He was ordained in 1996, and has spent the last six years as a hospital chaplain, three and a half of them at Holy Cross Hospital in Haslemere. He moved to our parish in September 2022.

Fr Nick Harden

Fr Nick joined our parish from the Parish of Woking in September 2024.

Following nine years studying Chemistry and carrying out research in Universities in Bristol, Melbourne, and Florida, he spent thirteen years teaching in secondary schools.  Although he says "I was incredibly good at ignoring God’s call to Priesthood, I did eventually listen and respond, spending five years in formation at St John’s Seminary, Wonersh, and one year at Allen Hall, Chelsea." Fr Nick was ordained on 2 July 2022 and his first appointment was as Assistant Priest in St Dunstan’s, Woking, and St Hugh of Lincoln, Knaphill, not far from Farnborough, where he grew up.

Every month, usually at 3.30pm on the first Sunday of the month, St Richard’s hosts an Indian Family Prayer Meeting, including Mass in the Syro-Malabar rite, attended by members of our community from Kerala, India.

The Syro-Malabar Church is one of the Eastern churches communities in full communion with Rome, yet with striking differences in the style and content of their liturgy.
